Shipping Options

We structure our transport services around two primary models, each optimized for different volume needs.

Full Truckload (FTL)

48-56 totes per load

Best Value Per Unit

Full truckload is the most economical way to move IBCs. Our standard 53-foot flatbed trucks accommodate 48 to 56 totes depending on whether they are stacked single or double. FTL shipments receive dedicated truck service -- your load does not share space with other freight, which means faster transit and lower damage risk.

FTL Details:

  • Capacity: 48 totes (single stack) or 56 totes (double stack on flatbed)
  • Transit time: 1-5 business days depending on distance
  • Dedicated truck -- no co-loading with other freight
  • Free pickup for buyback FTL loads within our service radius
  • Strapping and corner protection included
  • Driver-assisted loading and unloading available

Less Than Truckload (LTL)

1-47 totes per shipment

Maximum Flexibility

Less-than-truckload service is ideal when you do not have enough totes to fill a full truck, or when you need totes delivered to multiple locations. LTL shipments are consolidated with compatible freight for cost efficiency while still maintaining our handling standards for IBCs.

LTL Details:

  • Minimum shipment: 1 tote (no minimums for delivery orders)
  • Transit time: 3-7 business days depending on route and consolidation
  • Palletized and shrink-wrapped for protection during co-loading
  • Liftgate service available for locations without loading docks
  • Residential delivery available in most metro areas
  • Inside delivery and placement options upon request

Our Fleet

We operate a dedicated fleet of trucks specifically equipped for IBC transport. Every vehicle is maintained to DOT standards and driven by experienced operators.

53-Foot Flatbed Trailers

Our primary IBC haulers. Open-deck flatbeds allow for efficient forklift loading from any side. Equipped with ratchet straps, edge protectors, and tarps for weather protection when needed. Capacity: 48-56 IBCs per load.

Curtain-Side Trailers

For weather-sensitive loads or food-grade totes that need enclosed transport. Curtain sides open fully for forklift access while keeping cargo protected during transit. Ideal for long-haul shipments across multiple climate zones.

Box Trucks (Regional)

For smaller LTL deliveries and regional pickups, our 26-foot box trucks provide lift-gate capability for locations without loading docks. Perfect for deliveries of 1-12 IBCs to facilities, farms, and residential addresses.

Fully Protected

Insurance & Cargo Protection

Every IBC shipment we transport is covered by comprehensive cargo insurance. Our policy covers loss, theft, and damage during transit with a per-load limit that exceeds the full replacement value of a maximum IBC load. You do not need to arrange separate cargo coverage.

Our drivers are trained specifically in IBC handling protocols: proper stacking patterns, strap tension limits, tarp application for weather protection, and safe loading procedures for both forklift and pallet jack scenarios. Every driver holds a valid CDL with clean inspection history.

Stacking & Securing

IBCs are stacked in approved configurations only (single or double stack depending on condition and contents). Each unit is strapped individually to the deck, with corner protectors placed at every strap contact point to prevent cage damage.

Weather Protection

For open-deck flatbed shipments, tarps are applied when weather forecasts indicate rain, snow, or freezing temperatures along the route. Curtain-side trailers are used proactively for food-grade and weather-sensitive loads.

Hazmat Transport

For IBCs that previously contained hazardous materials, we comply with DOT hazmat transport regulations including proper placarding, shipping papers, and driver hazmat endorsement. Residual-content totes are transported under appropriate UN classification.

Damage Claims

In the rare event of transit damage, our claims process is simple: photograph the damage, email it to our logistics team, and receive a resolution within 5 business days. We handle the insurance claim; you get made whole.

Service Area & Transit Times

Operating from our hub in Jeffersonville, IN (Greater Louisville metro), we reach most of the Eastern US within 2 days and the West Coast within 5 days.

Free Pickup for Buyback Loads

When you sell IBCs through our buyback program, transport is often included at no charge. Full truckloads (48+ totes) qualify for free pickup nationwide. Smaller loads qualify for free pickup within our local and regional service areas. The buyback quote you receive is a net payout after transport -- what we quote is what you get paid.

DOT Compliance & Transport Regulations

Transporting IBC totes -- especially those that previously held hazardous materials -- requires strict compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Here is how we ensure every shipment meets federal standards.

MC Authority & USDOT Number

FMCSA Carrier Registration

We are a registered motor carrier with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, holding active MC Operating Authority and USDOT registration. Our carrier profile is available for verification through the FMCSA SAFER system.

49 CFR Parts 171-180

Hazmat Transport Compliance

For IBCs with hazardous residuals, our drivers hold hazmat endorsements on their CDLs. We comply with proper placarding, shipping paper documentation, emergency response information, and driver hazmat training requirements under DOT 49 CFR.

49 CFR Part 395

Hours of Service

All drivers operate under strict Hours of Service regulations with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) installed in every vehicle. We do not push drivers beyond legal limits -- fatigued driving puts everyone at risk and is never tolerated.

49 CFR Parts 393 & 396

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance

Every truck in our fleet undergoes systematic maintenance and pre-trip inspections. Annual DOT inspections are current on all vehicles. Maintenance records are retained for the full life of each vehicle and are available for audit.

49 CFR Part 393 Subpart I

Cargo Securement

IBCs are secured in compliance with federal cargo securement rules. We use rated ratchet straps, edge protectors, and blocking/bracing appropriate for the load configuration. Our stacking protocols prevent shifting during transit and match manufacturer weight limits.

49 CFR Part 387

Insurance & Liability Coverage

We carry liability insurance well above the FMCSA minimum requirements, plus comprehensive cargo insurance that covers the full replacement value of any IBC load. Certificates of Insurance are available upon request for your records.

Transport in Action

Transport Scenarios & Solutions

Our logistics team solves transport challenges of all sizes and complexity. Here are real-world examples of how we handle different shipping needs.

Scenario: Multi-Stop Buyback Route

Situation

A chemical distributor with locations in Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland needed empty IBCs picked up from all three warehouses and consolidated at our facility.

What We Did

We routed a single flatbed truck through all three locations in one day, collecting 18, 24, and 14 totes respectively. The driver coordinated arrival windows with each warehouse manager in advance.

Result

Total of 56 totes collected in one trip. Transport cost was shared across the volume, reducing per-tote pickup cost by 40% compared to three separate trips. All totes arrived at our facility by the next morning.

Scenario: Emergency Delivery for Production Line

Situation

A food manufacturer in Nashville ran out of clean IBCs mid-production run and needed 24 reconditioned totes delivered within 24 hours to avoid shutting down their bottling line.

What We Did

We dispatched a curtain-side truck from our Jeffersonville facility within 2 hours of the call. The 180-mile trip was completed that evening, and totes were staged at the manufacturer's dock before their 6 AM shift.

Result

Zero production downtime. The client received 24 food-grade reconditioned totes, cleaned and tested, with reconditioning certificates -- all within 18 hours of their emergency call.

Scenario: Cross-Country Relocation

Situation

A startup brewery in Portland, OR purchased 40 reconditioned IBCs from our inventory and needed them shipped across the country -- a 2,300-mile haul.

What We Did

We loaded 40 totes onto a dedicated flatbed with tarps for weather protection across mountain passes. The shipment departed on Monday and arrived Thursday, with daily tracking updates provided to the client.

Result

All 40 totes delivered in perfect condition. Total transport cost of $2.80/mile was 30% less than the client's broker quote. The brewery was operational and brewing within a week of ordering.

Self-Hauling vs. Professional IBC Transport

Some companies rent trucks or use their own vehicles to move IBCs. Here is an honest comparison of the two approaches.

Transport & Logistics FAQ

Can you pick up and deliver on the same trip?

Yes. A common arrangement is to deliver clean, reconditioned IBCs and pick up empty or used totes on the same truck, on the same trip. This round-trip approach eliminates dead-head miles and reduces per-tote transport costs for both legs. Let us know your delivery and pickup needs when requesting a quote and we will build an efficient route.

Do your trucks have forklifts on board?

Our flatbed trucks do not carry forklifts, but our drivers are experienced at working with your on-site forklift operator. For locations without forklifts, our box trucks are equipped with hydraulic liftgates that can handle palletized IBCs (up to 2,500 lbs per lift). We also have pallet jacks on every truck for ground-level positioning.

Can you deliver to residential addresses?

Yes. We deliver to residential addresses in most metro areas using our box trucks with liftgate service. Residential deliveries are available for quantities of 1 to 12 IBCs. We place the totes at the curb or driveway; inside placement is available for an additional fee. Advance scheduling is required for residential deliveries.

What happens if my IBCs are damaged during transport?

Every shipment is covered by our comprehensive cargo insurance. If damage occurs, photograph the affected totes upon delivery, note the damage on the proof of delivery (POD), and contact our logistics team within 48 hours. We process claims within 5 business days and either replace the damaged totes or issue a full refund for affected units.

Can I track my shipment in real time?

We provide tracking updates via email or phone at key milestones: dispatch, pickup completion, and estimated delivery window. For high-value or time-sensitive shipments, we can provide more frequent GPS-based position updates. Full real-time tracking via web portal is available for enterprise clients with recurring shipments.

Do you offer temperature-controlled transport?

We do not operate refrigerated trailers, as IBCs are typically robust enough to handle ambient temperature variation. However, for products that must stay above freezing or below a certain threshold, we can coordinate insulated blankets, heated trailers through partner carriers, or schedule shipments during favorable weather windows. Discuss your temperature requirements during the quote process.

Green Logistics

Reducing the Environmental Impact of Transport

Trucking has an environmental footprint, and we take steps to minimize ours. Here is how we reduce emissions and waste across our logistics operation.

Route Optimization

Our dispatch team uses route optimization software to minimize miles driven per tote transported. Multi-stop routes, round-trip loads, and regional consolidation reduce dead-head miles by an estimated 30% compared to single-trip dispatching.

Full-Load Priority

We prioritize full truckload shipments over multiple partial trips. Moving 56 totes in one FTL produces roughly 75% fewer emissions per tote than making four separate LTL trips of 14 totes each. We incentivize FTL loads with better per-unit pricing.

Fleet Maintenance

Well-maintained engines are cleaner engines. Our systematic maintenance program keeps every truck running at peak fuel efficiency. Tire pressure monitoring, aerodynamic fairings, and idle-reduction technology further reduce fuel consumption.

Backhaul Utilization

When our trucks deliver reconditioned IBCs, we schedule buyback pickups on the return trip whenever possible. This eliminates empty-truck return miles, effectively halving the emissions per mile for both the delivery and the pickup.

Regional Hub Strategy

By consolidating operations at our central Jeffersonville, IN hub, we minimize the average distance to the majority of US population and industrial centers. Our location was chosen specifically for logistics efficiency -- within one day's drive of 60% of the US population.

Carbon Offset Awareness

We track total fleet miles and fuel consumption annually and report the equivalent CO2 emissions in our Environmental Impact Summary. This data helps clients who offset their supply chain carbon footprint or report Scope 3 emissions.
