IBC Tote Products & Solutions

From budget-friendly used totes to professionally reconditioned containers ready for regulated materials, we carry the full spectrum of IBC products. Every container is inspected at our Jeffersonville, IN facility before shipping nationwide.

What Is an IBC Tote?

An Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) is a reusable industrial container designed for the transport and storage of bulk liquid and granulated substances. The most common design consists of a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) inner bottle encased in a tubular steel cage, mounted on an integrated pallet base.

IBCs bridge the gap between standard drums (55 gallons) and full tanker loads (5,000+ gallons), making them the ideal choice for mid-volume liquid handling. A standard 275-gallon IBC holds roughly five times more than a drum but takes up only about 48" x 40" of floor space — the same footprint as a single pallet.

These containers are used across virtually every industry: food and beverage processing, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, cosmetics, cleaning products, paints and coatings, and water storage. Their stackable design, fork-liftable pallets, and gravity-fed discharge valves make them exceptionally efficient for warehouse operations.

Why Buy IBC Totes From Us?

We are not just a reseller. We are a full-service IBC lifecycle company that inspects, grades, reconditions, and certifies every container we sell.

Every Unit Inspected

Each IBC tote undergoes a multi-point inspection for cracks, leaks, valve function, cage integrity, and pallet condition before it leaves our facility.

Transparent Grading

Our A/B/C grading system tells you exactly what to expect. No surprises. Grade A looks nearly new; Grade C is functional but cosmetically worn.

Nationwide Delivery

We ship full truckloads and LTL across all 48 contiguous states. Volume pricing and freight discounts available for orders over 50 units.

Eco-Responsible

Every used IBC you buy from us is one less container heading to a landfill. We recycle 95% of materials from totes that can not be resold.

Full Truckload Savings

A full 53-foot trailer holds 56-60 units of 275-gallon totes. Ordering a complete truckload eliminates partial freight charges and delivers the lowest per-unit cost. We handle all logistics and scheduling.

Recurring Order Programs

Businesses that order monthly or quarterly can lock in contract pricing with guaranteed availability. We will reserve inventory, schedule shipments, and provide consistent pricing regardless of market fluctuations.

Mixed Orders Welcome

Volume discounts apply to total unit count, not individual product lines. You can combine used, reconditioned, and accessories in a single order and still qualify for tiered pricing on the total.

Environmental Impact: Why Buying Used Matters

Every used or reconditioned IBC tote you purchase directly reduces waste and conserves the energy and raw materials required to manufacture a new container. Here is the measurable impact.

23 lbsCO2 saved per reused IBC

Manufacturing a new HDPE bottle from virgin resin produces approximately 23 lbs of CO2. Reusing an existing bottle eliminates this entirely.

15 lbsHDPE resin conserved

Each IBC bottle contains roughly 15 lbs of high-density polyethylene. Reusing keeps this plastic out of landfills and avoids new petroleum extraction.

70%Lower carbon footprint

A reconditioned IBC has approximately 70% lower carbon footprint than a new container, accounting for cleaning energy, new parts, and transportation.

95%Material recovery rate

When an IBC can no longer be reused, we recycle 95% of its materials. The HDPE is granulated for plastic lumber, and the steel is melted for new metal products.

The IBC Lifecycle at IBC Tanks Recycle

1

Collection

We source used IBCs from manufacturers, food processors, and chemical companies across the US.

2

Inspection

Every tote is visually and physically inspected. Reusable units proceed; damaged ones go to recycling.

3

Grading or Reconditioning

Usable totes are either graded as-is (A/B/C) or sent through our 8-step reconditioning process.

4

Resale & Reuse

Containers go back into service with a new owner, extending their useful life by years.

5

End-of-Life Recycling

When a tote can no longer be reused, we separate materials for recycling: HDPE, steel, and pallet wood.

IBC Tote Inspection Checklist

Whether you are buying used IBCs or inspecting your existing inventory, use this comprehensive checklist to assess each container. This is the same protocol our team follows at our Jeffersonville, IN facility.

HDPE Bottle

  • No cracks, splits, or punctures anywhere on the bottle surface
  • No bulging or warping that indicates heat damage or chemical exposure
  • No significant UV yellowing or brittleness (check sun-exposed surfaces)
  • Wall thickness consistent throughout (no thin spots from chemical etching)
  • Interior is clean with no residual product buildup or mold growth
  • No strong chemical odor that would indicate contamination
  • Bottle sits squarely within the cage frame without shifting or rotating

Steel Cage Frame

  • All welds are intact with no broken or cracked joints
  • No bent or crushed tubes that compromise structural integrity
  • Surface rust is cosmetic only (no deep pitting or structural corrosion)
  • Lifting bars and corner posts are straight and properly aligned
  • Top frame sits level and flush on the bottle opening
  • Cage tubes are evenly spaced and not pulled away from the bottle
  • Data plate or UN rating plate is legible and securely attached

Discharge Valve

  • Valve opens and closes smoothly with no binding or excessive force
  • Handle or lever operates through full range of motion
  • No leakage when closed (test with water if possible)
  • Thread connection to bottle is tight with no gaps
  • Gasket is present and in good condition (no cracking or hardening)
  • Dust cap is present and fits snugly over valve outlet
  • Thread type matches your accessories (S60x6, DIN 61, etc.)

Fill Cap & Pallet Base

  • 150mm cap threads onto bottle opening smoothly without cross-threading
  • Cap gasket is flexible and provides an airtight seal
  • Vented cap (if applicable) has a functioning pressure relief mechanism
  • Pallet base is structurally sound with no broken boards or cracked welds
  • Forklift entry points are clear and undamaged
  • Pallet sits flat on level ground with no rocking or wobbling
  • Drain plug (on steel pallets) is present and sealed
